Data Security Enhancements

To continue to strengthen our data security, today BNSF will implement additional measures that may affect some users prompting them to change their password for the BNSF Customer Portal. These new measures prohibit unapproved automation from third-party vendors using individual user IDs and passwords. This change is part of multi-layered approach to prevent potential web application attacks, which are a leading cause of security incidents. As a reminder, BNSF Customer Portal User IDs are assigned to a specific individual and should not be shared. 

BNSF maintains a robust suite of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for Customer Portal users who wish to import their shipment data into external platforms. Use of BNSF’s APIs are the only BNSF-authorized means of automating access to Customer Portal. Information about our APIs, including a catalog of those available and registration is available on BNSF.com/API

If employees in your organization need to request a new User ID for the Customer Portal, please advise them to complete the New User Registration Form. If you have any questions or you wish to access your shipment data through an API, please contact your BNSF marketing representative or BNSF Customer Support via Message Us (select “Web Support”) or call 888-428-2673 (when prompted, say “Web Support – General Questions”).
