Coal Network Update for Friday, September 25, 2026

Operational Performance
BNSF operating teams continue to generate solid network performance with fall harvest underway. Car velocity was consistent with the prior week and improved compared with August, while terminal dwell improved compared with the prior week and prior month. Local service remained above 91%, and volume increased from the prior week to more than 200,000 units.
 
 

Service Expectations for the Week Ahead
Periods of heavy rainfall and localized flooding potential are expected across portions of the Southwest and central Plains through the weekend. BNSF teams will continue monitoring conditions and adjust operations as needed to support safe, reliable service. Across the remainder of the network, operating conditions are expected to be generally favorable.
